Russell E. Diethrick, Jr.
Named for “Mr. Baseball”, Russ Diethrick – humble local leader, and highly renowned sports and recreation personality in Jamestown, New York. His contributions at the community level have been unmatched, and his work with the Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series has helped put Jamestown on the baseball map. He is our very special, one of a kind Russ of all Trades. He and his wife, June, are instrumental leaders in the Jamestown community.
Formerly known as College Stadium, the ballpark has been ingrained in Jamestown community history for over seven decades. The park seats 3,000 people in a general admission format. Hall of Fame caliber players such as Nellie Fox once patrolled the confines during Minor League Baseball action.
The park sits undisturbed in a beautiful setting away from the busier streets, nestled between the John S. Sinatra Soap Box Derby hill, Jamestown Community College campus, and a gorgeous grove of trees and wildlife. When you walk into the park, it always feels like its time for baseball!
