Jamestown, NY – Three weeks ago, Jordan Basile, head coach of the Jamestown Tarp Skunks, was announced as the new head coach of the State University of New York at Fredonia Blue Devils. Coach Basile will continue to serve as the head coach of the Tarp Skunks while taking on his new role at SUNY Fredonia.

“The entire Tarp Skunks organization is thrilled for Jordan,” said Jacob Kindberg, the Tarp Skunks director of business and sales operations. “Jordan has more than earned an opportunity to lead a program at a four-year university. And to be back at Fredonia, where he excelled as a player, is only fitting.”

Basile returns to the Blue Devils where he is the all-time hits leader. As a senior, he set single-season records for hits and runs while the program recorded 26 wins.

“I am excited for the opportunity to continue my coaching career at Fredonia while still leading a championship-caliber Tarp Skunks team this season,” said Basile.

Basile lead the Tarp Skunks to a Western Division Championship in the first year of the franchise, recruiting players from 14 different states and 15 different colleges and universities. He also led JCC JayHawks through 2 COVID-plagued seasons while stabilizing the program. In 2021, The Jayhawks finished fifth in the NJCAA Region 3 West standings, three games out of a playoff berth.

“Jordan’s immediate success in our first year as a franchise clearly turned heads outside of Jamestown and our league,” said Kindberg. We are fortunate that Jordan will continue to lead our team in 2022, and we are excited about his future with us and Fredonia.”

The Jamestown Tarp Skunks are members of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and return to play in June of this year. The PGCBL league schedule is set to be released in the coming weeks and will feature promotional nights such as $2 Nights and the Opening Night tailgate concert again this year.
