The Jamestown Tarp Skunks organization donated youth baseball gloves to Jamestown Babe Ruth baseball this season.

Upon hearing of the need for equipment in the community, the Tarp Skunks organization donated 30 new and used gloves to the league to be distributed to players during this difficult time.

“We know the past year has been hard for everyone in many ways, and we want to do what we can to ensure all kids who want to play baseball are not held back in any way from doing so,” said Tarp Skunks Business Director, Jacob Kindberg. “I think we need things like community baseball right now, more than ever.”

The Tarp Skunks are dedicated to playing an important role in  Jamestown and surrounding communities. Along with the glove donations, the Tarp Skunks have sponsored several teams in the area Babe Ruth Leagues. Kindberg says the Tarp Skunks organization seeks to be seen as a positive presence around Chautauqua County.

“We really want people to know that we love this community and we’re working hard to not only bring great experiences to locals through quality baseball but also help out in any other way we can,” said Kindberg.

The Tarp Skunks 2021 home opener will be Thursday, June 10th at 7:00 pm. The team is planning a free, pregame celebration outside the stadium with food and live music to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the stadium and the first season as the Tarp Skunks.
